The name JeiVah (Ntsaimvab)
belongs to our great grandfather who immigrated from China during the early
1800's. Our band was formed in his honor.
Jeivah Band was formed in
1984 at Rice Lake, Wisconsin. The founders were
Moua Suryseihn,
Boua Chao and Chou
Smidchei. Over the years, many players (mostly descendants of
grandfather JeiVah) had joined and resigned from the band. The JeiVah band
performed quite often through the 1990's in Wisconsin at weddings, new years and
graduation events. JeiVah band plays a wide variety of music styles, mostly in Hmong, Thai and Lao. In 1996, JeiVah band produced their first album (listen to songs below) featuring Chai (Nchai) as the lead singer. Our group is well known through out Wisconsin. Our current members consist of individuals who voluntarily put in their times and effort to help the community, to be good role models for our youngsters to follow and to bring entertainment to the hearts and homes of our families. |
